Welding D Loops to the Witches Hat/tail cone?

Gents, any down side to welding a couple D loops to the witches hat and tail cone? I'd like to add a couple mods which make trailoring easier.

I would think potential warping would be a concern. Would the bolts holding the hat and cone be strong enough to take tie-down loads?

I found that the plate that holds the pintle hitch is an excellent base for a universal hitch that will accept lunettes as well as ball hitches.
The universal hitch is great for any type of trailer I want to tow. I have a pinz plug on my Jeep as well. I have fitted in a 4 plug adapter so that
I may rent a trailer and still be able to have lights.

I would be extremely cautious about welding to the 'hat' it surely was not made to have pull from the sides and is not that thick there.

My apologies, i wasnt clear in my post.

I'd like to weld a a few D loops so I can secure the pinz to a trailer, easier. I've been hauling my Pinz around on a 16ft trailer for years now and it always takes more time to strap it down than I'd like. Strategically welding the loops could provide a much faster tie down process.

I'd prefer to not use the triangles for the body mount - They are starting to bend and crack.

I use the axle straps just outside the half shaft clamp with chains and ratchet binders when I choose to tow. I added "D" rings to the trailer so the chain goes from one axle strap through the two "D" rings and back up to the other axle, pulling slightly forward at the front and rearward on the rear set. With two binders it really does on take long to tie down. A couple 2" ratchet straps on the body to hold it from bouncing would not hurt but I have never felt the need.

The witches hat at the rear is cast and would be problematic welding the rings to it. the front nose cone is actually a pretty soft metal and I am sure would distort over time.

I know it does not make it right but I have been towing vehicles for the majority of my driving career. Body sway has never been a big concern for me. I guess my trailers suspension is rated high enough that the vehicle does not adversely effect it. I could see if you were running a trailer where the suspension was border line that the body sway of the vehicle being towed could be a problem. Like I said in my earlier post if you feel the need, tie down the suspension as well.
