Is this a question, a comment, or a challenge?

This question of modification/s seems to be asked repeatedly. I'm not bitching, but it seems like nobody does a search anymore for info. Thus the same questions get asked and eventually the old-timers seem to get tired of it and just stop replying. I searched for "modification" and "modifications" and got three similar threads of modification lists.

I don't know what more can be added...

I don't think conversation on such a subject is a bad thing. This forum isn't bustling with so much activity that people cannot revive old topics. I run a Ural forum, and if I told every new owner to use the search feature only, they wouldn't post.

For me, my mods/additions are limited and haven't hit 10, but here are a few I needed:

1.) Wheel hub steps (Thanks Morris!);
2.) Highlift mount on nose (haven't used it yet);
3.) CO2 Tank for airing up tires;
4.) Stereo/MP3 player;

I just think its a good topic to bring up again. its fun to talk about. if the old timers want to ignore it they can. And i think the more traffic the forum has the better . to keep it alive. but honestly no, i didnt search, i hardly ever do. i use the forum more for conversation.

I don't think anybody has suggested that. But reminding them that the search feature exists might be good.
I just think its a good topic to bring up again.
Sure. But the same could be accomplished simply by replying to an older post. That way, you keep the info together for future seekers plus get to add your own input.
i think the more traffic the forum has the better
Okay, sure. Right up to the point at which it becomes more difficult to find the info you really need.
but honestly no, i didnt search, i hardly ever do. i use the forum more for conversation.
Well, there ya go. Maybe that works for you, so far.

Unfortunately, lots of owners rely on the forum to find information on repair or maintenance. When the same question gets asked time and time again, and people don't even do a search, the real gurus on the forum generally discontinue the conversation. I can't blame them: they came here for the conversation too. But when it repeats over and over and over...

I'm SORRY if I'm being a killjoy here. (Maybe it's just me.) But here's quotes (and suggestions) from others:

Well, when the new tech sections were started, the "intent" was to list the subject as regard to the problem, and not vague or cutezie titles, nor several questions. Leave your creativity to the General Chat. :wink:

And as a note to ALL posters. Whomever starts a thread with the subject line CAN go back at any time and edit the subject. Such as marking an item "SOLD" in the classified section.
So it is never too late for anyone to go back and rename their threads.

And somehow, I'll get this post to the proper section where everyone will read it

FWIW, I'm fine with this topic getting rehashed. Frankly, things change and everyone's got a different opinion. I just think any rehashing or updating should be based off previous conversations if they have already addressed the same topic.

also this is a new section of the forum we never used to have this owner customization category . the thing that inspired this post was the lightweight starter from Expedition imports . i was thinking how much i like it and how everyone who needs to replace thier starter should get that one, because it rocks !

Yup. I know. That's sort of why I am a proponent of searches. I believe they broke it into subforums in order to more easily find the info you need, including by search.

But even the old stuff is still searchable in the (old) section. I don't think you can renew an (old) section thread, but they can probably be copied into new active subforum threads. That way the knowledge and discussion can continue and accumulate without getting duplicated.

I'm really sorry for getting so far off your original topic.

Definitely the flexible ducting exhaust link from SAV and similar. Eliminated backfiring on mine, and cut the exhaust noise noticeably too.

Re: TOP 10 best Pinzgauer modifications for improving performance
If the topic is improving performance, then
the Goatwerks 2.7 liter engine and EFI rank pretty high- having driven
with and without those mods.

I second that. I'm driving with both the Goatwerks 2.7L engine and EFI and, as someone who uses their Pinz as a DD and an off-road overlander, I can't recommend them enough. I would certainly rank these mods as #1 and #2 on a top-10 list. (Thanks again, Jim!)

I am not sure where this belongs but I thought a mod about performance would be the best place to start. My 710M came with an ignition mod that i have no clue and would love to know what it is. Please see the pic.
