A proper car audio system

Build projects, things that guys have come up with to make a Pinz better (or worse?) and aftermarket add-ons.

I was unable to run my amplifier with my 24-12v converter. (drew to many amps) I needed an additional battery to push the 12" sub woofer through the amp. and without a means to recharge the 12v battery, I decided to scrap the idea and figure out another way.

I'm running the PST-D24/12-800 from http://www.powerstream.com/dc1.htm and I must say I'm impressed! No issues yet!?

This is the one I want.

Figures it would be the one that cost close to a grand. That's pricy for good tunes.

Did you not just purchase it 2 months ago?
Already ready to jump to the 712?
You know that owners of 710's want a 712 and owners of 712's want a 710.
Once you have owned both then you will want a Hafi

You could run all of your system with the right Tri-amp capable amplifier and appropriate crossovers.

1 two channel amplifier would draw less current than the two you are running. The subwoofer draws the most amperage so you'll want to have the most efficient subwoofer you can find (I'd recommend a bandpass box for volume, ported box for efficiency).

The tri-way crossover sends low freq <120hz bridged, to the sub. Frequencies >200hz are sent in stereo to the two front speakers. Since your front speakers are components, you would use their cross overs to split to the mid and tweeter.

If you want to go even more efficient - The new chip based amps are so efficient that they barely get warm. They even come in 24v varieties.

I have a dozen 12v amps laying around and migrated away from the 24v converters. Wont install them - They draw too much amperage for the ALTERNATOR to keep up.

Getting a 24v amp would be the way to go but I tried to save money and use what i had laying around... good enough for now.
I'm not in a hurry to sell but the 712 I wanna build wont be much of a Pinz...Only body

Look in fleabay for used Vanner equalizers. Big tour busses run these, and a 60-100 amp slightly used can run 90-200. I run a 100 amp, almost new, that keeps my batteries at even charge and only cost me 99.99. I run one in my 712 and another in my trailer.
