Need an ignition noise suppresor

I have a wonderful ticking sound through any audio device i connect to my Pinz. Has anyone installed an ignition noise suppressor in the past with positive results?

Mine came with one.

also had one on the MOG. The Petronix doesn't seem to be an issue for me but, I am running the line through the suppressor. It was a cause of problems when the wire was corroded and only one strand of the stranded wire was actually connected. Not enough juice went through to start the vehicle. Took a long time to fine the culprit.

Civilian conversion from EI. Pertronix.

Did our trucks come with one? There may be a possibility mine was removed in a previous life. Regardless - i have significant ignition ticking in all audio devices - amps, CB, Intercom.

Negative. The original shielded ignition eliminated the need for suppression, at least to my knowledge. My truck has stock ignition, and I've never had ignition noise on any electronic device.

Of course, fixing it will be expensive...

Would a capacitor or coil on the positive line do it?

Back in the day, I used to work at an electronics service shop, and we did car installs. At least back then, noise supressors were a common item. They had a 12v input and a 12v output and a ground, and you ran it inline before the radio/amp/etc. Looked like this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/High-Quality-10 ... 2a2e82bc52

I've no idea about the internal components, but I assume they're still available. Not sure about 24v units, but I also assume you've got a 12v stereo.

I'm not an expert on the subject by any means. But it could be from two sources: electro magnetic field from the plug wires, or backfeeding from the coil onto the supply. Batteries tend to act as a capacitor and should absorb most noise on the supply side, as long as the wiring to the ignition and radio is not coroded or loose (and of propper size). Shielding the plug wires from coil to spark will help for the field suppression, but that might cost some money for a fine-mesh metallic sheath. If you purchased low-impedance plug wires (usually they will specify), they will definitely radiate more than normal.

Insure that the plug and coil wires are well seated.

No. Not New. New intercom system which makes the popping annoyingly audible. Its in my stereo as well. Road noise kept it at bay.

A noise suppressor can be added very
simply. It's not a big deal. Once you've
double checked the items previously
mentioned (good connections, plug wires,
etc.) just add a suppressor. They cost
about $50 to $60 for a basic one.

can narrow it down.

im familiar with the applicability (and crutchfield link) when it comes to 12v systems. How do the amperage/wattage ratings change when doubling the voltage?
