710/712 steering column/shaft pictures/info?

Build projects, things that guys have come up with to make a Pinz better (or worse?) and aftermarket add-ons.

Post by TechMOGogy »

Does anyone have any info on the steering shaft for at 71* series Pinz?
Trying to find if shaft is round, D or double D shape?
Any info helpful
Thanks,
Dan

Check the photos I put in the Tech section when I rebuilt my 712 steering box, see if your questions are answered.

If you are talking about the shaft that the steering wheel attaches to, it is a one piece round shaft with the splines for the wheel at the top and the worm gear at the bottom, complete with ground-in ball races for the bearings. The splines for the wheel do not have any index (a missing or wider spline), the wheel can be put on in any orientation. I did not take any dimensions when I had mine apart, sorry.
