Shock Absorbers/Dampers

Post by Anthony »

Shock Absorbers/Dampers, does any one have the dimensions to hand of both closed and extended? This will save me from removing mine, I don't intend any one to take theirs off as I can do this myself but if any one has the measurements that would be great. Are these measurements normally expressed from the centre of one eye to the centre of the other or is it just the body length? I presume that the eyes are of some sort of standard fitting but I do not know.

I have heard that shocks from some GMC or Chevy are the same and from another quarter that those from a Toyota Landcruiser 70 or 60 series might also fit.

Hello

I believe Denis at Lindenengineering has those measurements, but I haven't heard from him in a while. Maybe you have a better way of getting him.

Cheers Eric P,

I will send him an e mail. It is easy to get them off as they are well exposed but it is very wet and muddy here in Wales, pissing with rain with no coverand I was just being a bit pathetic  . I know hat some folk have fitted other than original fit. I understand someone has used pro comp and I read the other day that some one had used Koni.

I am a big fan of Koni and have used them on a number of vehicles including my LR101FC. They are made of top materials are adjustable for damping and can be rebuilt. There are some newer types of Koni available now other then the D, there is the Heavy Track and the Raid, types 88 and 90 respectively. I doubt the the Raid will be available as they are still quite new and specialised and have only fitments for a small number of vehicles like Landrovers, Mercedes G Wagons and Toyota Landcruisers. However the Heavy Tracks will undoubtably have a fitment.

Hello

I hope you find what you want. I remember Denis mentioning being able to go to Napa (local parts franchise) and easily finding a match based on length measurements.
