Dave,
What are you doing here on the Volvo forum? Did you buy another toy? As for your mobile enteral nutrition device, I was thinking of a nice steaming cup of English breakfast tea with clotted cream and freshly baked crumpets with marmalade. It appears on the pictures that you have already started baking. If you were to combine breakfast with Dennis and Scott for an entertaining discussion, we could have quite a day.

Cheers,
Greg

Update, after finding and correcting wandering valve lash (loose rocker adjusters), I got it running but am still chasing vacuum issues.
Will most likely pull the head and look for a damaged intake valve :(
This engine had a lot of brake fluid go through it due to a leaking and ruptured aux brake booster, and #2 cyl intake runner is the vac source for the boosters so it does make sense.
It's time to move my beast back out of the garage and get this thing trail ready.

Jim,
Will it help if I go to church tomorrow and pray for the redemption of my Volvo?

Found engine had valves leaking causing low vacuum(this was from a long term leaking remote brake booster). So beware a bad booster/multiplier can damage the valve seating surfaces.
The head is currently at the machine shop getting hardened exhaust seats and a complete valve job. Once the head is back on, the injection system should perform well.

There is light at the end of the tunnel! :D
That was one long dark tunnel, however.

Mark,
I can't wait to take it for a spin. I'm curious if you have any idea of what performance gains you achieved when you switched to fuel injection. Did you have the stock vehicle for a while so that you can compare the present capabilities with the past? Did you make any other alterations that would affect overall performance such as removing the mechanical fan and switching to an electric?

Thanks,
Greg

FI was on truck when I got it,needed lots of fine tuning. It is an early 80's CIS mechanical system, your EFI will be a more precise system. The cooling fan.. Well the +'s are reduced noise, and vibration. The -'s are more heat build-up in engine area which means a bit more heat on the inside between fan cycles. I also didn't help the situation with an oversized radiator and a 3/16" bash plate that runs across both frame horns top to bottom. My cooling relay has stuck on recently and it has helped remove excess heat and the noise is no problem,so I may choose to keep it "broken". I've done LOTS to this truck,I will send you a P.M. with my Tel # if you want to chat!

Ok, head is repaired and new hardened valve seats installed, vacuum restored.
First test drive ok, good power, idles smooth and has not yet died coming to a stop(YEA!) After I clean up a few items I will do a road test datalog to see what changes other than idle control need to be made :D
