Digital Gauges

Post by michael mcauliffe »

Hi folks

I recently purchased a Volvo C303 cab chassis that needs a " lot " of restoration work. It appears to have some gauges missing on the dashboard. I heard of a product called Madman gauges, i think they are digital, but was wondering if anyone knew if they would work on the C3 series ?

www.madman.co.za

I was pretty lucky with the purchase, i got 2 copies of the Volvo C Series service master manuals and a copy of the parts catalogue.

I was hoping to be able to get most parts still ? My Volvo dealer here in Australia says he can't get parts for these anymore.

Cheers

Your sending units will be analogue

You will need to purchase the sending units to match the gauges also before the are any use.

White with red needles and red/blue display looks nice. 60mm gauges as we get older also :).

Good luck with the restore it's a lot of work,

Hi there

I think i may have all the gauges i need to complete the project (which is a long way off i might add !!) so i'm not too fussed about it at the moment. The other thing i hhave to consider is that my volva has a diesel conversion, so i have to get gauges and sensors that will run off the motor and gearbox.

I'm lucky enough to have a copy of the parts listing & service Manual for the truck.

Hope to chat soon

Cheers

Do you like stabbing yourself with dull knives as well Mick? ;)

Love that air-intake and the option for an, uh, auxiliary outboard radiator.?

Hi Vince

Don't know about the dull knives, but i have been known to do some stupid things !!!

Thanks for the help with the picture (much appreciated).

It' funny you mention about the radiator (it doesn't have one - well an original Volvo one) !! It has a massive radiator with twin thermo fans that was "attached" to the front supposedly to cool the diesel motor it has. The truck was used to spray crops with a huge sprayer on the back, they drove at about 10 klms an hour, hence the need for a big radiator.

The plan is to sell the big radiator and get a 3 core radiator to fit in the same spot as the original one would have. I hope the plan works ?
