Yes, you should be glad it wasn't you. I spent 2 days getting the motor out of the chassis with 4 friends. It did come out. It is absolutely the filthiest disaster of a motor I've yet seen. Inch thick grease/oil/sand/dirt sludge on MANY parts of the motor. The starter motor wires were ***BURIED*** in this sludge. I cound't remove the starter motor until the motor dropped down a bit. The noise appears to be from stuck lifters smacking the sh!t out the cam. The lifters are sticking becuase the vehicle was run low on dirty oil and that dirty oil created a thick goop in the oil-free galley where the lifters live. The rest of the valve train & power train seem to be OK. There is some slop in the transfer case. Not sure if that is normal or not..

however.... :)
I have a BRAND NEW B30A cam, oil pump, water pump, fuel pump, performance IPD lifters, pushrods and new Mikuni carbs, new alum radiator & 24 volt fan, 123 ignition, 40KV coil, wires, plugs, trick oil drain pluge from difflock, LED tail lights, 15 amp 24-12volt converter, trick worklight, etc. This is perhaps $3k in goodies that the PO left in the vehicle free of charge. A little good and a lot bad. :x

The head is out for hardened valve seats and rework. So, I should also have a new motor in a few weeks, but I will be out $2k- easy. The vehicle is also registered, titled and tagged in Florida, which can be a chore. I've been through a bit of it, but it's nowhere near as nice as yours. I do (really) hope my massive losses benefits you in some way. I've never bought a vehicle that didn't have this BS waiting for me in some way. Let's hope you get a vehicle which is everything they say and nothing they conveniently left out. :)

I'm going to re-camo mine too, but first I have to get it back on the road. That new motor you have is manna from heaven.

Enjoy that bad-boy. I loved my C303 for the 3 weeks it ran!

Blackbird, I was SO sorry to hear about your trouble, but it sounds like you've got a good handle on things. Where dod you find your cam?

Joacim from Coatex AB is doing his damnedest to give us the best truck he can for our money. A true gentleman.

Just checked the Kontrollbok, the engine was replaced in '97.

Problem?

No, it has nothing to do with that, just when it was made. (and dont ever mention anything about an engine swap/replacement, it just confuses people)
