Straight from Sweden. It was used by Norbottens regiment in Boden.

Cool Lets see some more pics. My 1111 is supposed to leave the UK around the 22 or so. Hopefully you won't have the problems Blackbird is having with his engine hopefully he gets it sorted out.
blackbird939 wrote: Well, sigh, another vehicle of mine has developed a loud tapping. My '69 Porsche
911 had something similar and it turned out to be galled cams and cam bearings
starved of oil. That was easy to fix.

I bought a 75 TGBII. It ran poorly when I first received it. It was deiseling
bad--run on for 10 seconds. Carbs were overflowing and mixed with oil for some
time before I realized. Once I did, I drained oil and replaced filter. New oil.
I rebuilt filthy carbs, installed 123, 40KV coil, new plugs, new wires, oil,
timed to 10BTDC and adjusted valve lash today. The oil was very low when I got
vehicle, but it DIDN'T tap. After all of this basic maintenance, the TGBII has
much more power and yet now it has a loud tapping in time with the valvetrain. I
thought it might be that the fact that gas got into the oil for 20 miles or so
before I realized might have washed out the rings or something. piston slap??
After adjusting the valves, the engine is quieter, isolating that tapping! Seems
to be coming from the intake/exhaust side of the motor- around the number 3-4
cyl. There seems to be no loss of power- it is pretty strong IMO. Easily/quickly
gets up to 50mph. This can't be a stuck valve, because I adjusted all of em. A
stuck lifter? Or ?? How hard or easy is it to remove the head? Can I use the 164
B30 head? It's higher compression, right?

I can post a youbube vid of the sound if anybody cares to wanna help.. :(

It really seems to be ONE area - one cylinder making the noise. Stethescope says
exhaust side of 3/4...

Bummed with a B30A

That's terrible! I need to read more here. I know who he bought his truck from, because we were this * close to trading our boat for it. I don't wish this upon anybody, but I'm kinda glad it wasn't us.

Joacim and Goran from Coatex AB in Malmo are the two fella's I'm dealing with. We've emailed each other hundreds of times, and they've been VERY helpful.

http://www.scaniasba111.se/

So far, the truck has:

New engine and carbs
New front inner and outer wheel seals
New CV boots
New front brake cylinders (4)
New rear brake pads
Replaced exhaust with a better used one
New right front turn signal lense
Replaced tires with 50% Goodyears
New wiper motors and relays
New battery regulator
Spare 70 amp alternator from a radio Tgb
New mirrors all around
Spare windshield frame, (I'm gonna try to make the passenger windshield a safari too!)

They know of my terminal cancer, so they have taken it upon themselves to sell us the very best truck that they can. They also sell Scania Tgb's by the hundreds, along with the assorted Volvos, so they have spares and new parts to choose from.

Here's a few more pics:

Thanks, Greg, we will, for as long as we can. Then, I'll leave it to my son who's an Expeditionary Studies major here at SUNY.

Joacim said he's never seen one with such straight body panels. No wavy-ness at all. He says the pics really don't do it justice.

How about a good pictorial of your sweet rig? How's she running now with all the work Dennis did?

Yeah I had thought about buying that one from Craig also but I really wanted a soft top.

Looks like you got a nice clean one.

Wow cool. When do you get hold of it?

Looks like a lot of work to clean it up.

Actually, the guru working on my truck is not Dennis, but rather Jim LaGuardia. He has been mapping with the newest chip under varied conditions. It is running much smoother, but the intent is to optimize everything, so there probably is at least one more modified chip in the near future. Once that is in, if it is fully dialed in, I will be able to put it through its paces and get some pictures. I will then need to do some interior upgrades to make it a little more user-friendly.

Cheers,
Greg

It all looks good from what I can see here. The wiring is commonly replaced with the new bodies. This was likely all done in the late 90's and should be rust free; an ideal 303 to own.

Thanks, Vince, that really does mean a lot to us.

Here's a pic of the 100 amp batts he installed for us, to replace the 65 amp in the pic above. He knows we're converting it into a camper and wanted us to have enough juice for lights, fridge, etc., overnight. (He's also throwing in a spare high output alternator from a radio version, so I can have it rebuilt locally).
