Trying to acertain if the noise from my 6x6 is typical or needs help.
I find when accelerating "on throttle" the rear axles are quiet (it's relative!), and when decelerating "off throttle the rear axles are quiet, but when holding a neutral throttle there is a terrible growl from the rear axles which can be felt throught the body as well.
Is this typical?

Hi Ian,
have you already checked the driveshaft an U-joints ?
You should also check the PTO from second to third axle. The bearings inside are often worn out.

Cheers Uli.
I gather that this is not typical and therefore something I can fix.
I took the rear prop shaft off and ran it with only the front rear axle driven, and the noise goes away.
Guess the PTO should be the next investigation.
Ian.
