Hello-

I've got a C303 and I'm having some shifting issues. I'm think it might be related to not fully shifting between High and Low? Has anyone had these symptoms before?

* Truck off. Clutch in. Shifts like a dream in all gears
* Truck on. Sitting still. Clutch in from the start it shifts fine.
* Truck on. Sitting still. Clutch out, then clutch in. Can't shift into 1st or 2nd (feels blocked), sometimes can get into 3rd gear.

It seems sporadic, sometimes it shifts just fine, other times it simply won't go into 1st when I'm at a full stop so I have to turn engine off, put in 1st then go. When I'm rolling I can literally feel it slide into gear. I think it has something to do with when I shift between high and low range. Any help would be appreciated.

This is most likely related to the external linkage placed on top of the gearbox. Remove both hoods inside and look how it moves when you shift low/hi.

I´ve had a few similar problems, all where related to this, a few bolts had vibrated loose and another washer had jammed the linkage that moves sideways.


If you still cant solve this make av question on the swedish forum http://www.terrangbil.net where we have a few mechanics as members. They have probably fixed similar issues many times in the army.
