I think you are getting mixed up with the Steyr Puch car which had a 500 cc engine. All Haflingers had a 643cc version of the 500cc engine from the factory with model designations of 700 for the short wheel base and 703 for the longwheel base - to the 700/703 you may see variations such as AP and APT.

So your Haflinger if not modified will be a 700 or 703 with a 643cc engine - in North America most of these will be the Pathfinder version.

Frank,
Garrycol is spot on when it comes to the 700/703 numeric designation for the Steyr-Puch Haflinger series. I suggest the following:

1) Do a simple Google Images search of "Haflinger Data Plate". You will see data plates of the 700 and 703 series trucks. These plates are typically located in front of the passenger seat toward the centerline of the truck. You will also see examples of the US Department of Transportation required compliance plate for the Haflinger to be valid as a "Type Multipassenger Motor Vehicle". The upper portion of the pate is stamped wit the Month/Year of manufacture and the lower section gives the Serial Number (VIN) which matches your standard Data Plate from Steyr-Puch. The plate is located at the far left of instrument panel. Then do a Google Images search for "Steyr-Puch 500 D data plate". At the end of the line that starts "Fzg. Type....." you will find "Mod. FIAT". This is NOT a Haflinger.

2) Take a look at pages 12 and 13 of the following .pdf ad see the variety of Haflinger models.
http://www.goatwerks.com/images/hafiepi ... nualNA.pdf
Your SWB Haflinger Pathfinder should be a 700AP version.

I suspect the confusion is coming from the first digit of the VIN on your compliance plate..."5". To my knowledge, ALL 700 and 703 haflingers have a VIN that starts with "5". Serial number is not the same as "series" number.

Now that you have sealed the deal for the doors from the fellow in Texas are you still trying to find more doors? If not, you might wish to share your lead for a set of doors in the Pacific Northwest.

Congratulations of finding your doors.
Take care.

If you have managed to get a set, then get them copied - a metal fabrication shop is likely to charge you less then what you are going to pay for a set of "original" doors if you can find another set. They have become very rare.

Good lick.
