Replacement Lights for Haflinger

I have noted the OEM lights on my Swiss military and North American Haflingers to both be rather dim. I wonder if anybody here has replaced either the bulbs alone or the whole lamp to something else that worked better. I'm sure there are many that work better, but I'd rather go with something that has already been done with good results. Also does anybody know a source (other than Haflinger Tecnik or Autoquariat) for original or substitute plastic light lenses for the other lights?

Thanks,
Greg

Digging in the grave yard.
Anyone have a suggestion on replacement bulbs?
Anyone use H4s or ???

I really would like to put a LED bulb in as they use so little power, are considerably brighter and last nearly for ever.

I have seen the HID setup that heinkeljb used but I really just want a brighter bulb in the stock housings.

They do make LED replacement bulbs but from what I have read it is hit or miss regarding beam pattern (but that was for more modern cars so perhaps it is worth researching for the non 7" Hafi's)
Let us know if you do test any out!

I have H4 Halogens in my lights. They are 60/55w and I have not have had any issues. Low beam is very close to the front but Hi beam does show up the distance OK. Not the greatest lights but work OK. My reflectors are not the greatest and maybe need recoating.

H4 Hi/Lo HIDS would go straight in.

Check under the Pinzgauer electrical. I replaced the entire assembly,
with city lights, city bulbs, and military heavy duty H4 bulbs for $125
including shipping. There was a second link posted too.

My haffy has the 5 inch bulbs so I will follow Garry's path and try h4s. The led lights on flebay are cheap so ill order a set.

LED bulbs may use less power than conventional filament bulbs, but they do produce heat when you start getting into the higher power one. The difference is that they produce heat at the BACK of the LED substrate junction and so you will notice that the "good" higher power automotive LED's have either a small fan or a big heat sink fitted to the back of the light bub. Just remember to take this extra bit of hardware into account when trying to fit them to existing lamp unit / positions.

Not really a problem on Haf, but might be if you want to put the interior headlight cover back in place.

Autoquariet sells the new 6" lamps(both types) and I have seen H4 bulbs with adaptors on Ebay in the past. Also it is important to have a clean body ground in battery box for best lighting results.
