Haflinger Distributor Maps

Post by Garrycol »

Does anyone know what the distributor map is for a 73 Haflinger.

By map - I am after advance in degrees versus engine RPM up to to top end of the governor limit of 5200rpm.

I have an after market electronic ignition system with various maps programmed into it and am trying to pick the one that best fits the engine requirements.

Thanks

Garry,
I have only seen one Hafligner distributor map and that is labeled as Fig. 8/III in the factory repair manual. It is for Bosch distributor VJU 2 BR. If you do not have the manual available, the critical points on the graph are as follows:

RPM Advance in degrees
0 0
850 0
1000 9.0
1050 10.5
1500 10.5
2000 10.5
2100 13.0
2200 15.0
2300 16.0
2400 17.0
2500 18.0
3000 21.2
3500 24.0
4000 26.8
4500 29.4
4750 30.8
5000 30.8

The graph ends at 5000rpm. The only true curve in the graph is the gentle arch between 2000 and 2500 rpm.

Hope this helps. Please tell us more about this diostrubutor of yours when you get a chance.

Take care.

Thanks Jim - I gave a more detailed response over on TheHaflinger forum.

At the back of my handbook was a handwritten map that I took to be a modifed 123 map but it ties in with the Haflinger one you published - so the previous owner who did this work must have used it.

Thanks again
