OEM license plate lamps.

Post by cascade.king »

In the continued disassembly of my Hafi, I noticed and removed the pair of license plate lights recess-mounted in the rear rail. These were obviously missed by the previous owner, since they were packed with dirt and painted right over!

Sadly, the clear lenses are cracked and pretty weak. I'll need to get a new ones..

They have no "Lucas" branding (like all the other lamps on my NA model), but have ZKW lenses stamped (A) 2028 and M1279A.

Any ideas where I can find correct replacements?

Not directly, unless some of the parts suppliers have them.

I was looking at the lights and thinking I have seen some modern LED ones that look very similar. The other thing you could do if all that is totally unusable are the lens. You could cut some clear plastic which would at least cover the holes until you could find suitable replacements. The insides of the lights might take that "chrome" effect spray paint - don't know how well it would stand up to the heat from the bulb but might be worth a try. You could obviously get them re-chromed if you can't get replacements.

I don't remember where I bought them but I have used a pair and they are the correct ones for the Pinz.
