How do you remove the Dynastart fan?

Post by Heinkeljb »

I would like to take the fan off the Dynastart so i can clean and paint it whilst I check on the brushes. I know it is locked to the shaft with a key / keyway to make it rotate with the shaft. I don't think you can get a puller on it as the fan blades overlap.

So how do you take it off?

Regards,

How long has it been on the Dynastart? Mine is likely to have been on the shaft since 1983!

Jim has put forward an official method - Use a puller that screws down the center of the fan. Or a system that uses the weight of the Dynastart along with a hammer and drift to tap the shaft down through the fan.

I'll take the Dynastart off and have a good look at things on the bench.

Sounds good
I am not sure how long mine was on for as I have only owned it for 3 years
Guess I was lucky (to bad there are 100 other parts of the Hafi that I was not lucky with)

I sprayed mine with a penatrant, then just grabbed the shroud and shook it up and down letting the weight of the dynastart act as a slide hammer until it came off took maybe 10 min. Make sure you put some grease on the shaft before reassembly so it doesnt happen again.
