Time to spend time on an important topic - the cup holders of the haffie. I noticed a thread over at The hafflinger site, and some amazing cub holders. I am not that skilled in metal craft, but i am skilled in Amazon shopping, especially buying stuff for kids (i have a 1.5 year old). I decided to take a look at mountable cup holders and selected the following for test:

Please take a look at the notes on the images for results.

Just remember that the Haflinger is a very "bouncy" vehicle, cups of coffee might not remain full very long!

Nice to know your priorities are in the right place!! :D

Fun
The under dash one looks good and seems to work
I like the passenger one too!

You would have seen my cup holder over on the other forum - I still have it and was driving back from Maccas yesterday with my large Cuppacino (with one sugar) in the holder - as John said the Haffie is a bit bouncy and I hit a bump. The lid did not come off but a lot of coffee did shoot out the sip hole in the lid and made a bit of a mess.

So whatever cup holder you use, it will have to hold the cup well (stop it going up as well as down) but still expect a mess from time to time.

Is there a boat designed one on a gimble or something? That might work better at stopping the spills....

Self levelling isn't going to stop the problem of "bounce". As Gary pointed out, even with a lid, the coffee still comes out the hole!

Self levelling would work well on a relatively smooth road going round corners, but pot holes or off road - only a completely sealed lid or at least a straw system will prevent liquid all over the place!

John is spot on - I still spill my cuppa even with the lid on in my Haffie and FC101 (it is worse than the Haffie) but no issues with my Range Rover riding on its air suspension.

Dont get too tech - any decent cup holder that you can secure will work Ok if you accept the occasional dribble.

This post was so tongue in cheek, that i find it fantastic folks continued to add on. It was mimicking a post in another forum, and more for me to do something fun, instead of focusing on issues.

There are some great suggestions! That cheapie Coleman looks like an excellent option!
