My new wheels

Post by audiocontr »

These are the lancer wheels with 185/70/13. Nice and light. Grabbed a few km/h in 3rd gear before the need to shift. Rides better, less noise

Looks good - like I said - not too blingy...

You could always rattle can them green to match the Haffy.

Damn it, just realized that the store sent 10*1.25 lug nuts. Hope they didn't hurt the threads. New set incoming

Yikes! Hope it works out. Maybe chase them with a tap before putting the new bolts on?

The are so different I think I like them - black or green could be good but a quick shot of silver on the center cap would probably be all they need?

I'm against painting the wheels for now due to the silver colored drum. They match the drum well, giving dimension. I'm sure I'll change my mind eventually.

Totally agree with the caps

If you painted the rims black then the brake drum would contrast and it would look like the Swedish fire truck wheels sometimes seen on the Volvo's

Image

Here is an good explanation of why the Swedes have them like that...

http://www.trog.us/2008/06/13/black-and ... t-origin/

A note from Willem about the black/white sectors on the rims

The black/white pattern of the rims is not just to spot a moving vehicle, at
night and/or in smoke/fog/water-spray; the story I was told when I purchased
mine, from a fire-chief annex castle-owner annex military naval officer annex
car-museum owner (his entire (semi-royal) family owned 200 oldtimers total!),
and confirmed by the intermediator, is that many decades ago, someone in Sweden
studied the safety regulations for dangerous devices & substances a bit too
anally, and concluded that *if* any high-pressure device must be marked with a
black/white cross label, than surely tires too, especially high-pressure truck
tires….so with that regulation in hand, he started ordering that all rims be
painted black/white….:))
The regulation might have never be intended that way, nor even be valid today,
but the paint culture was never changed afterwards….:))

Sounds a bit apocryphal to me, fire chiefs having lots of time in the station to spin yarns, but it’s a good story.

Same wheels spotted on a bone stock Lancia Scorpion at the Italian Automezzi car show in Arvada, Colorado yesterday morning. Quite the contrast between two unique vehicles!

Yup! I really like both vehicles. Had a great guy here at Ford who restored Lancia's. He was a little upset when he learned that the wheels were not going on a Lancia, but retracted when i shared what it was used on.
