Using 14 and 15 inch wheels

I am familiar with and have used 13 inch Fiat wheels for my Haflingers without incident. Occasionally, 14 and 15 inch wheels with the correct 4x98 bolt pattern can be found. Has anybody used these, and if so, what tires have they been able to fit without "much" rubbing? I ask simply because there is a much greater selection of tires available with these larger wheels.

Since I didn't get any response, I went ahead and bought some 14 inch Fiat rims. When I get them, I will see what tires fit and post the results.

Greg, good luck on your search. When I was looking for tires 5 years ago, I had looked for ones for the taller rims also, but didn't find anything in a offroad tread less than 26.5" diameter. My final choice was with some passenger car winter tires for the road ( most agressive tire I could find).
Look at tires at the Cooper Tire site and their associate brands. They make the "house" brands for a lot of different tire stores ( Les Schwab, Pep Boys...). If you find a tire you like at the Cooper site, call them and they can give you a name of company that they made them for, the name they were branded with, and the sizes they made. You'd be surprised how many people are riding on Cooper Tires and don't know it.

I was wondering if you ever tried the 14's? I'm in the same boat and thinking about 14's.

Also, does anybody know what the max diameter is for off-road? Street?

I have not had the time to sufficiently pursue the issue of what tires to use--as for the 13 inch rims, there are plenty of winter tires for 14 inch rims that are meant for passenger cars that could be used, but even though these have more aggressive tread, they do not come close to substituting for a real offroad tire. A few offroad tires are available for 14 inch rims, but the height of these is typically 27 inches or more, and while they MIGHT fit in the wheel wells of a Haflinger, I assume that you would be rubbing every time you hit a bump. Too bad a body lift as some people do in Jeeps couldn't be done on a Haffy easily to accomodate these. Does anyone else have any ideas?

I think that the wheels are 15 o 16 inch.
