Seatbelts - Haflinger

Post by westernair »

I would like to install a set of front seatbelts in my truck that look like original ones. Can someone take a few photos of the mounting positions and what the buckles look like? I have some old school VW ones that look pretty good but I want to make sure I mount them correctly and that they look period correct.

Also at some point I may also want to add a set or rear ones.

I don't think I got any close ups but the Haflinger I sold had original belts (3 point) but I do have a few shots on my other computer - will see what I have and will post them later
My Hafi has new 2 point but the mounts are original (phone shots below).
Driverside (left mount if sitting in seat)

I also just got these (today actually) to mount the rear belts (this way I can remove them when not in use)

(Excuse the condition of my Hafi it is stripped and I am waiting for my soda blaster to arrive before I prime)

L brackets are original but my belts are not.
The belts I bought look like the bottom one with the black webbing and chrome airplane style buckle.
Rear belt should be here next week and have a snap end.
Can't seem to post pics from other computer - may have to be Monday
Not great shots but I can ask new owner for brand if no one else posts a close up shot (depends how original you want them and mine will be the NA spec seat belt - I know they were from England -Benex or something comes to mind)
Dan

Edit: original belts were 3 point non retractable with push buttons - can post pics (bad pics) Monday

Here are my belts - all original as belts were compulsory in Australia when my Haffie was built here (in Melbourne).

My Haffie is right hand drive

The passenger outer mount.

Both passenger side mounts and the belt type.

I am also looking at putting in removable belts in the rear when I put my rear seats in - I am not sure about the load capacity of those rings and would most likely not be legal here.

I was looking at seatbelts with these on the ends but cannot find any locally - I have seen them clip onto what appear to be normal seat belt mounts.

Garry,
Those are the belts I had can you post a close up pic of back with manuf info - thanks
The ring hooks and mounts are used to secure wheel chairs in buses etc so I think they will work for rear of Hafi (vertical rating is 4000 lbs and horizontal rating is 2000lbs each - obviously how you mount them affects rating but it should be over kill for Hafi)
https://www.seatbeltplanet.com/ is where I got mine and they sell various ends regular, clips etc

Not much help I am afraid as these only have Aussie certification

Though they Britax (UK) seatbelts - most likely made locally at the time as all new vehicles had to have a certain level of local content.

Cheers

When i get a chance to take photos, I'll post pics of the seat belts in my 1973 LWB. The mounting points on the platform are the same as those already posted.

The belts in mine are the "J" hook with magnets type. I had the same sort fitted to a 1967 VW beetle.

Had a chance to take photos, I have put them is a composite picture to save space on the server. If you would like them as higher definition photos, I can send them as an attachment to an email if you want.

So those are a 2nd kind of belt and here is a 3rd (from a NA Pathfinder) Bendix 3 point non retractable belts.
Sorry - only pic I have! (I have a million pictures and you would think that I would have remembered to photo-document this vehicle before I sold it but I completely forgot :) )
