Haflinger type BN2 Heater info/pics

Post by Jim LaGuardia »

Posting this here as well as another Haflinger forum as I go through my own heater.
I created my own accurate Schema using a photoshopped image and adding in the proper details.

Just an FYI
If someone is looking for a BN2 they also came in VW cars and are readly available. My suggestion though is to pick up ma more modern BN4 heater as they have a better safty system for burning off unused gases in the chamber.
Remember though these little heaters were natorius for causing fires and if you choose to use one, make sure rebuild the fuel pump regardless if it seems to be in good condition and make sure you wire it so it has both the constant power and the auxilery power leads connected correctly.
Lastly as with our motors it is important to change out your fuel lines regularly and make sure you use a clamp on the connections and not just rely on the barbed fittings.
Oh wait one more thing, the glow plug, periodicly take the plug out and make sure it is not fouwling with carbon, heavy carbon deposits hampers performance and while I cant verify this, it also can play a part in heater fires...
With all of that said I have a few BN4s in my stash and the alternate Stewert Warner that was installed in some of the very late North America Path finders. If someone needs a Part no longer available I might be able to locate the piece in my stash of parts.
Ark Mirvis at HEATERMAN@nac.net was someone I have used in the past for parts and he offers a full rebuild service as well.

Never heard of Stewart Warner in Pathfinder Hafi's!
