Replacment steering wheel

Post by Hoss »

I want to replace the steering wheel with a smaller diameter unit (Momo etc) as i have power steering.
Does anyone know definitively which boss/adaptor size/pattern i need?

For the record, it seems to be 13/16" 36 spline.
Now i just need to find a boss...

There was a thread on this when the guy who bought the idiot artist vehicle had the same issue.

I think he got one made up as it is not a common boss size.

sup.

I was never able to find an exact match for it. Someone else sent me an original steering wheel, and then later on I wound up cutting the "magical silver spaceship" steering wheel, and drilling and tapping the boss to accept a standard bolt-on steering wheel.

Sorry.

Yep i've come to the same conclusion, none of the aftermarket wheel manufacturers have an adaptor for this column.
So what i've done is buy another steering wheel from sweden and cut the centre out, i will then machine up a ring and weld it on.

Ditto to the above!
I never found a replacement steering wheel that would fit the standard factory spline, but in my case when I fitted power steering and had to make a new "shorter" shaft to mount between the s-wheel and RO valve I just chose a spline size/design that was common on aftermarket s-wheels.

Ok so i made my own adaptor by buying a s/h wheel and cutting and machining down the hub. Then made a ring on the lathe and had it welded on. Now have an OMP style fitting.
