Speedometer

Post by thedoeges »

Hello,

The speedometer on my TGB11 worked just fine, until I drove for a while on a pretty rutted road. The vibrations must have loosened a magnet inside the speedometer (according to Tatanka). Now it is showing speeds much faster than actual. I removed the speedometer and thought i could open it up and tighten the magnet, but had to realize that I don't know how. Any way to open the thing up and fix it before I am spending $200+ on a new one?

Thank you,

Marcus

It's a little bit of a pain to try and do yourself. I'd call these guys first before buying a new one. http://www.nhspeedometer.com/

Funny enough, none of mine have ever worked right, not my 303, the two ex-Pinz speedos, my Gwagen's, nor my old Land Rover's! I can't imagine knowing your mileage and speed in a 4x4. I've usually had a hard mounted GPS on too so that takes care of accurate speed, but knowing the total km/miles would be handy! :?
