BMW had something similar, twice the power and a "front loader".
I think the body ideas came out of post war Italy ala Fiat, the BMW isetta 300.
Didn't take long for these guys to eventually eat our lunch though :(

Very funny - Interesting that they gave so much attention to the aerodynamics but not the suspension or dynamics...

Lots of post-war 2 stroke microcars were made in Europe - the ones I always liked were the "PEELs" - often called the world's smallest car:

Bond used to make their own little 2 strokes......and the 4 wheel version was a beautiful little thing.
