Eccentric Hummer
Obviously I am fascinated with weird set-ups. This guy takes the cake for the year. He was traveling south on the 101 toward Orange Co. Ca. I cant tell if that is some kind of camper thing, or maybe something like a tree stand for hunting? (both I assume) It was clearly weighted down a bit, with the rear suspension dragging. I like the 200lbs worth of crane to lift a 250lb bike. He was also driving by sitting on the front edge of his seat with his face about 10 inches from the windshield on top of it all.

Reminds me of a joke: What's the first thing you know? Ol' Jed's a millionaire!
Re: Eccentric Hummer
Gads! What was he thinking. The Bev hillbilly's had way more class than this, it was a model-T after all.
Re: Eccentric Hummer
I've seen postings of that before - I think he is a silicon valley guy and its his version of a camper / bug-out vehicle... The folding leg table on the passenger side is also a real nice touch... guess he really needs a 6 footer and couldn't spring for the folding versions costco sells.
Re: Eccentric Hummer
Here is a posting on a forum from 2005 which shows the same rig - nearly unchanged except for the brand of motorcycle... so at least he seems to have stayed with the concept for a while...

Wow that's hilarious. He also upgraded the table and wheels!
How lucky was I to see it all live!?

Maybe you were lucky to have seen it and "lived" - with the way some of that stuff is attached, I don't know if I would want to drive too close to it...

Re: Eccentric Hummer
True.
So I assume we are looking at 8mpg, $150,000 and an inability to fit pretty much anywhere, short of completely open and easy 4x4 trails in the desert or beach areas. Great stuff.

Re: Eccentric Hummer
It was either this or a Toyota Dolphin RV.. And the RV didn't say "Hummer."

I lived in a Toyota dolphin RV for a year back in the 80's...great way to travel...and, I was always home no matter where I was.
