Nice Syncro

Post by VinceAtReal4x4s »

Saw this on a short trip, tucked away in a neighborhood after a wrong turn. I've been around a few and owned a Vanagon once but was really surprised at the ground clearance of this one. The pic doesn't do it justice. I swear it was approaching Pinz clearance levels in spots. I think the largest practical tire on these is a 225/75 (or 70)R16 and that's about 29", which makes it even more surprising. With lockers front and rear, which Syncros can have (most have at least a rear locker) they can do shocking things. Not bad for a small apartment on wheels with good highway abilities. The engines are commonly upgraded these days to something more reliable/powerful like the VW 1.8 or Subaru 2.2-2.5's which make them fly with 20mpg+.

Been on a number of trails with Syncro's. Even though they look quit civilized
they have always impressed me with their capability. No problem keeping up
with the Pinz'ies at Calico. Darn rare finds these days and command a high
price.

Yeah the price is the only reason I didn't get one years ago. Always been a dream car.... or rather, one of a few dream cars. ://
