That is a great idea, thanks! So far, I need to replace the bearing and outer seal on one of the rear portals. Anyone know the part numbers for those by chance? Can they be sourced locally? As for the oil leak, I have not gotten to that yet. I did find a good shop, run by a German man and his son, who is quite familiar with the D24T and will inspect it for $30.00 (that $ will apply to the final bill if they do the work). I have been reluctant to drive it much due to the hub, but I am getting impatient!

Not sure on the total miles yet, as I have not gotten around to calculating it. I will try to remember to do it tonight.

Thanks again for all the support!

The parts manual is one of the big binders I gave you and should have the part numbers. If you go to SAV you can find the parts list and you can search their site with the part number:

http://www.pinzgauer.com/parts.php?cat= ... sel&id=590

http://www.pinzgauer.com/parts.php?cat= ... wstart=200
Is it this one ?

Scott at EI will most likely have parts also but not online as far as I know.

I did contact Scott, several times, but he is in the process of moving. I imagine his parts may be in a bit of turmoil due to the move. I also called and emailed SAV. they sent me a quote for the seal but are researching the bearing. I did not see any part numbers in any of the manuals... I will have to look again, when I get back home. That last link may be the part.

As for the trip, I just figured out my mileage (not including every side trip and subsequent mileage), and mapquest says 1,930 miles.

Ok....long time since an update. Thank you, NJ718, for the part numbers. I have the outer bearing and oil seal on the way from SAV. I hope to have that issue fixed as soon as the parts arrive. I have taken the Pinz to a German-owned, European Vehicle shop. $30.00 for a diagnostic, which applies to the work if they do it, and they figured out the leak! It turns out that there is a leak in the Valve Cover Gasket and, the valves need adjusting. They are also going to turn the injector pump down, to optimal pressure, which should make passengers (and Prius owners  ) happy not to have huge plumes of diesel soot in their faces! I am hoping that this will get me back up to the 18+ mpg I got when I first bought and drove her away. I can't wait to start exploring new areas, once it is all fixed up!!

Thank you all for the help I have received on here. It has been hectic, but I am getting there!

Take care,
Phil

I don't suppose you have any info on the front bearing?

I thought that they were different. When I ordered mine from SAV they asked if it was front or rear, which I assumed was because they are different. I will start a new thread on this in a few minutes.
