Anyone know of an alternative part number to source replacement springs for the leaf springs a the rear of the 718 ambulance ???

I'm guessing the parts must be from Mercedes or VW heavy type vans????

Both my springs have a broken lower leaf.

The are definitely not from a different vehicle since they don't have the regular "eyes" on the ends to attach to a frame bracket and there are many 6x6 vehicles in the pinzgauer weight range - most are much heavier.

That said, I think it wouldn't be hard to have a set made up by a spring shop - I am sure there are similar leafs available. Best bet would be to get the real parts however. I wonder how similar the 712 leafs are to the 718 leafs?

I doubt you'd find find them from another truck, as I've seen this type suspension used on other larger trucks, a lot larger than a Pinz.

I don't know what the part num for the 712 is, but from the 2001 part manual, the 718 spring pack is # 717.3.54.005.0
I would think interchangeable but 718s have a 60% higher load capacities. But I think a 712 spring will still have more capacity than a broken one.

talk to Gregor at Shropshire Gunbus. I'd guess he has used kit for sale, too.

I can't tell you if the "individual leaves" of the 712 spring assembly are the same as a 718, but I do know the 718 has 4 leaves per assembly and the 712 has 3.

Thanks to everyone for input.
I can source replacement from a vector from Dale (and John) at Haflinger technic.
I just wondered if there was another way...

So the vector springs are on, vast improvement and a fairly straight forward job. :D
