718 Wheel Options

Post by ExpeditionImports »

Hi Guys,

We found these relatively inexpensive wheels from the Dodge Sprinter Vans. The kicker was finding a Lug Bolt that would work with the new wheels as they have a conical seat versus the military ball seat and you cannot use the stock bolts. Anyways, replacement bolts came out of Italy and make it a bolt up conversion. Pictured is with 255/85R16 Maxxus Big Horns.

If anyone is looking for some extra combat wheels drop us a line and we have 15-20 spares!

Cheers,

Scott

Do you have a pic of the mil wheels you have there? Wondering about fitting to a G... are they number 34 or 35 on this list? (6.5" or 7")

Hi Vince,

Mopar is correct, I have the Delta combat wheels which are incredibly heavy and pretty hack in terms of balance. Definitely not the G Hutchinsons.

However, if you are going to be taking gunfire and want to continue to drive, give me a call :)

Cheers,

You might consider the stock steel rims from the 2002 to 2006 Sprinter T1N models - they are extremely similar to the #35 on that chart except they are 6.25" wide between the bead lips and have a 75mm ET so it might require some spacers depending on the model of Gwagen you have. Pretty easy to pick up in the USA for $50 each via wrecking yards or craigslist/ebay - just be careful as the 2007 and later models are 6 lug and there is also a dually rim which won't work.

I just did a quick search and found some "premium replacement" rims for sprinters that look like the stock ones but list the ET as being 55mm instead of the normal 75mm - that should make them work well on a 460 Gwagen. Its probably an error though.

They are only $78 each.

That would be cool. I need to avoid spacers. I'll have to check into those last ones more.

Hey Vince - There is a thread on the Expedition Portal site of a guy who just bought a Gwagen and is planning on replacing his wheels - so his steel rims might be available. He is in Los Angeles.

Hello Together,

I'm Steve from Sydney, I just bought myself a 718K P80 Pinzgauer and I'm new to the Pinzgauer.
Have had 2 Defenders but sold me tourer no replaced by the Pinz.

Just saw this thread and was wondering whether there is a list of wheels which fit from other
brands, I saw the Dodge ones but they will be hard to get here in Australia.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Steve

The dodge is just a Merceded Sprinter re-branded here in the USA. You need the 5 lug type - so prior to 2007. The sprinters wheels are deep offset / high ET - possibly more than the stock Pinzgauer wheels - and they are only 6 inches wide - so it you want a wider wheel then look at aftermarket alloys for Sprinters - they also seem to have less ET / offset.

Looks like a nice truck! Welcome to the forum!
