I have never seen a tow bal even similar to that, where did you get it from?
I have fitted the arrangement shown in the picture below but I have not tried it yet as it looks inadequate to me (Paranoia posibly). It was designed for a landrover and I have been told that they are normally braced to the body of the vehicle from the bottom of the plate where the ball is mounted. It is made of 6mm steel with an aproximately 20mm upstand. Any thoughts on this arrangement?

If you want to join the agricultural community, keep the kit for ploughing
this is the structure I use for towing
The towball is bolted to the baseplate with 4 M12 bolts.
On that pic I have replaced the welded on ring with a revolving shackle.

Watch out for the hole pattern. The 4 bolts on the top are 85 x 45 mm, which allows the use of the revolving shackle designed for Landrover Defenders ( search for Bearmach BA 2682)
The bottom section is 83 x 56 mm which is the standard for 4 hole towing balls.
I used a link to the picture at https://www.kupplung.at/universal-kugel ... =kugelkopf as an example in the previous posting.
The search parameter in the URL tells you what to look for
If you decide to follow the inspiration from my pics I suggest you keep the plate as small as possible to prevent it from dragging when you are offroad. Then measure the position of the trailer side coupling when the trailer is balanced and select the towing ball accordingly.

Thanks for all the details. Had a look at the back end of my 716 and it appears to be significantly different to yours (710?). I had the opportunity to try towing with the bits I have fitted. I had about 1600 Kg on the hitch and it appears to be OK. Didnt go far but I did go over several speed bumps to provide a shock loading (too fast and had 2 of the trailer wheels of the floor on one). I also pulled it up a 20 degree slope with someone watching who saw no deflection. I think I will leave it as is for the moment but thank you for your help.

My Arborist just swing my and uses a Ball-Pintle combo hitch.
Kinda cool, don't know if there would be any interference with
the bottom of the door, but I found several options on etrailer.
Don't know about shipping outside the US either but knowing

The Diesels have a different tail end to the petrol models.
Dale at Haflingertechnik or Greg at Shropshire Gunbus are your best ports of call in the UK.
