Switches 6x6/Difflock Etc.

Post by ExpeditionImports »

Hi Guys,

The 718's from Delta had a pretty bastardized 6x6/Difflock system. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, their system with a simple Red Dot valve was less complex, although every time you would put the truck in park you would take off your skin on your knuckles.

Anyways, we decided to put the system back closer to original with electrical switches actuating the electric vacuum solenoid valves (pretty cheap from MB).

One area that we did decide we wanted a little functionality and bling was in the switches. We had some switches made up with 24V leds with dual circuits. Engage the switch and the words illuminate in Red. Once the 6x6 or locker actually engages, the picture turns green. The green illumination is fed from the indicator at the vacuum slave.

Anyways, this is what the initial looks like. Hope to have it in a truck this week.

Cheers,

Scott

Nice switches - did you get them from Carling Technologies?

Carling is the manufacturer of the switch, but we have a local company do the LED mods and the laser engraving of the labels on the switch. Comes out to $20-25 a switch, which we consider pretty reasonable.....for a 24V, LED, engraved to our specs., etc.
