Dash lights

Post by andy »

Does anyone have the number for the light bulbs in the dash or can you tell me where to look? The light bulbs I'm talking about are like the ones for the blinkers, the emergency brake, the 4500 rmp light etc. I have some that need replaced and someone already got the convoy light bulb and the one for the heater. Thanks.

SAV has them part number SAV3508. Most good truck/auto houses have access to 24v lights. We have a company out here called the lighthouse which carries 24v stuff for emergency vehicles which has been a great help with our modification of lighting in the Pinz.

At $0.75 the shipping is more than the part. I am waiting to get more of an order together before I order mine.

If NAPA comes through with something useable, I'll try to post their part number and cost.

I tried NAPA and they did not have anything at the store that I tried. But you may have better luck. seems that most store stock is different when it comes to 24V bulbs.

I replaced mine with led's found on Ebay. Same socket as originals, but designed for appliances I believe. About a buck each and will never have to be replaced and are brighter than originals.

Now that is a great idea. What did you query on ebay to find them or do you remember the seller's name?

Andy if you still have the original tail lights, you can usuall rob 2 black out light bulbs temporarily. If memory serves, they are 8 watt instead of 4 watt. Brighter

Andy, I'll see if I have the reference somewhere. I queried 24 volt or 24v under all categories I believe. I found red, orange, white, blue and green.

lights

When I lived in San Diego there was a store called LightHouse that I got all my 24v bulbs and lights from. I have a catalogue from GROTE Industries. Phone is 800-628-0809 and their email shows on the back page as safety@grote.com
Hope that helps. There are other sources for 24v stuff but I have not had to use them.

NAPA called and supposedly has some. I'll check tomorrow, but some of the LEDs from superbrightleds look interesting. Thanks guys, I'm glad I asked now.

after dealing with NAPA for a while, I called a local auto parts house and they located the proper dash lamps plus stop, tail and clearance lamps for my Supacat ( it's 24v, the Pink Cow is 12v.... go figure  )

Wagner #
17063 for dash lamps 24v 1.35cp
17643 for stop/turn lamps 24v 36.61 cp
17181 for clearance/tail lamps 24v 3.98 cp

NAPA called a little while ago. Their number for dash lamps is the same as what you had Dave, 17063. The problem is they tried to get them in Dallas and there are onnly 2 there, so the lamps are coming from Phoenix. Next time I'm going to try the LED lamps and see if they will last longer.

Are the same dash lights burning out? or just a random old bulb? If replacement bulbs are blowing, it could be a sign of overvoltage, and regulator isn't doing its job. Put a volt meter somewhere and run the engine at high rpms to make sure you're not spiking. Excessive voltage will eventually take out your Pertronix ( if you have one fitted).

I also have a cross reference list for USA, Lucas, Osram, Philips and Stanley bulbs. Now adding the Wagner numbers to it.
