Where did my idle go?
'71 710K has been a running fine till recently. On the way to work shortly after turning off the choke I noticed when I came up to the stop signs that the engine stalled. It needs about 2k rpm to keep running now or remains running at idle with choke on. No loss of power. I R/R my fuel filter.
Any help is appreciated.

Yeah. If the truck was running fine and then all of a sudden started acting up this is probably one of the most common problems. Happened to me after a long trip home from a hunting trip with a couple of new guys. They were less than impressed with the truck when I could not keep it running. Problem was a tripped breaker just a few inches from my hands. So tired after the day and in the dark did not notice it till the morning.

Mike - you NAILED it! Took the flashlight outside and checked and there she was - I think #10 or #9 circuit breaker? What would cause that to pop and should I expect it to happen again? I had already checked each of the solenoid connections and they looked good (you would think that I would have checked the circuit breaker ! Thanks for helping out. Going to work in a modern car just don't cut it. Now I'll be in my usual good mood tomorrow drivin' my Pinz!!!!
Gratefully,

Sam,
The circuit breakers in the Swiss version of the truck deteriorate with time.
I had a lot of trouble with my circuit breakers, especially in the summer
when the interior of truck would get hot.
I eventually replaced all of my original circuit breakers with a marine version.
There was an article about circuit breakers on http://www.sdp-pinzgauer.org/,
but that site has been down for quite some time.

Unless Juergen has a backup of the site it is gone for ever. The hosting company we had the sites on is no longer. The SWPA is on a new hosting company and much safer now.
I did the breaker replacement in my 712 after reading about your work. They have been there since with no problems. At the time I needed new breakers finding them was impossible. There were mog breakers available but they were too big.
The marine breakers are available at www.boatingstore.com while not a direct fit they do work.
