towing with a 710M

Post by krick3tt »

I was amazed when I consulted the specs for a 710 and read that it is supposed to be able to tow almost 11,000lb on the road, 3,000 off road.
This 11k seems like a lot, I was thinking that 5000lb was the most I wanted to have on a trailer.

What have you, on the list, been able to tow.

Cheers,
Morris

towing stuff...

Hi everyone! I'm briefly back from the shadows...

I flat-towed a 2300 pound Suzuki Samurai 900 miles to the annual ZookiMelt (KC, MO to Attica, IN and back) with a 710M.

The thing that sticks out the most from the adventure was when I tried to slow down with any authority.

Remember the last time you stamped on the brakes in your unladen 710?

Multiply the scare factor by at least 2. And that was with a couple hundred pounds of camping equipment in the bed.

Okay, maybe I am exaggerating a little...

But I DO vividly remember coming very close to losing it when the Samurai started pushing the 710's rear towards the outside as I entered a cloverleaf exit ramp on an interstate.

Speed and Pinzgauer are two mutually exclusive concepts.

Offroading a Pinz? THAT's another matter!

Similar experiences could be had with a moderately loaded 710K and a panic stop! On one occasion , I had an old guy in a car next to me at the light say I did a real good job! 8) Only people who have been there would understand......... Mark

G'Day Ack...Welcome back!

Never towed with a 710 (there is only one in Aus and that's not running) but as Brian said the 712 is a good tow vehicle.
I did however in my younger days (almost 30 years ago) tow a loaded tandem with a Haflinger....... Now, THAT was INTERESTING!   :P
