Rear locker not working

Post by 712 Walt »

If nothing else pull the panel in front of the locker levers and top off the reservoir(s). If that dosen't work bleed the locker circuit, if you haven't done it before you will be amazed at the crap in the lines. I had to purge the lockers on my 712 when I pulled the rear tandems to get at the transfer case. (Worn out bronze guide block on the synchronizer.)

P.S,
I see a yellow 712M with an after market hard top for sale in Temeculs CA. Don't have any other info.

That has to be the same guy that I got my 712 from, he had 2. I think the guy was from Austria. He had a picture of him with Swartchaneger in his office. That hard top is a very nice rig. He lived on the west side of I-15 where all the larger farm like places were. Nice guy but I never did talk to him after our transaction. He also had a very nice halfy, red with some sweet rim's/tires. I noticed he was selling my old 710 on Craigslist a few months ago too. Looks like he is getting out of the Pinz life.

Do you happen to know who made the top? Don't care for the yellow paint job.

rear diff

Yes actually I do and so do a lot of other people on this forum, and unfortunately he is not very popular, but that said it was designed by Stephan formerly of SoCal Pinz, now defunct, the good news is that he only designed it and it was built by much more competant fabricators, I will say this truck was very sweet except for 2 things, that front winch bumper is dangerous and the $75,000.00 asking price for the truck, I ran into Bret the company owner and Stephan back in Jan. in Vegas at a off Road industry convention, I do have a few more pics if anybody wants to try to copy it though they are low res off my celphone cam, and I did get an ear full from Stephan promising the world to anybody willing to listen.

My appologies to anybody who has dealt with Stephan.....lol

Winch is mounted way too high. I would think it would bend (rotate forward and down) under a high load.

That and it's ugly.

Erik....whats wrong with the winch is that stephan designed it, if you were able to look closely at it as I did it was not supported very well and only attached to the large bolt that the bumper uses to attach to the body, makint it quite weak if you start doing some heave duty winching....most will agree is stephan desigend it be careful it will fail
