I was able to remove the switch with an adjustable wrench. I have not had any luck finding a local shop to buy a new one from that fit. I even found a small air cooled shop in Milwaukee, they had two swiches in stock for $4. All the switches I found had tapered threads, but the Pinz switch has straight threads. looks like an m10 x 1.0 thread with a copper washer.

I ended up ordering it from SAV along with a few other needed parts.

huh. well that's weird. why have i heard so often that one of the vw switches is the same switch? maybe those ppl were mistaken. well i like my setup. i side-stepped the whole design.
