Generally speaking, what is the consumption rate of a Webasto heater, since the unit is hooked up to the petrol tank?

I think from memory, the 3500 uses just under 1/2 litre per hour on maximium.

is the webasto the best heater for a 710m? what are the installation considerations/problems? my feet are starting to get cold around here and this thing has no heat exchanger.

Dennis put in the 2000 for me. Works great, doesn't get that cold here like in the Yukon so I didn't need the 3500.
The consumption is about .12L per hour. Not going to affect my petrol use very much so the milage I am getting now, after the rebuild of the carbs, is not going to cause me difficulty.

ka,
I had Dennis at Linden do the rebuild on the carbs. I bought the rebuild parts from Scott at EI and gave the job to Dennis. He also rebuilt the dissy with the parts that I got from EI.
I had trouble with the engine rebuild (that is a whole other story) and with the donor engine, that Dennis put in to get me home, I got an average 15.4 mpg. This with a fully loaded 710 and an M416 trailer towed behind me.
I think that is very good milage for a 1650 mile trip with a 2.2L engine considering the mountains I went over.
Happy trails,
Morris

I have the 2000 in my truck. Dennis was a big help in getting it in over the phone and thru e-mail. Here is what it looks like. I made the mounting brackets myself. I now have a tube that directs the heat into the back thru the wall that can be removed if needed for heat in the front. I did not add a vent for fresh air, figured it would not make a difference. Works great for here in Wisconsin.

This my install of a 3500 Webasto....along the same lines as Scooter's setup.
