Wiper motor clean up

Post by todds112 »

The wiper was really struggling to get back to the "park" position when shut off. Decided to take it out and dissassemble and clean everything. Everything was pretty cruddy inside. The worst part was the gear box. The old grease looked like parafin wax. The gears all looked good. Cleaned everything up and packed the gear box with silicon grease.

Made a huge difference. Hopefully a little preventative maintenance will prevent a future failure. As expensive as these things are it's probably worth the time and effort.
