Very cold in Denver and I need my idle is ?

Post by rekogniz11 »

It is about 0 degrees or below in Denver and my idle is messed up. Throttle is sticking a bit as well. Hope someone can help.

Starts and idles fine, after driving, when decellerating to a light my idle drops to stalling point and then comes back up after about 5 secoends or so (if it didnt already stall). Also when getting up to RPM to shift it will rev a bit between shifts.

None of the above happens on a normal day only seems to be when it is very cold. Any suggestions wll help!

Make sure the flap on the air intake is set so it moves and sucks pre-heated air into the carbs at idle. Also, when its below about 20 degrees, I'll block off the grille with some cardboard to get the engine a bit warmer

yes I leave it blocked off while its really cold. It doesn't seem to hurt anything.
