Brake Fluid

I'm about to flush, refill and bleed the brakes, clutch and lockers. Is there a "recommended" brake fluid or one that anyone prefers over another?
Or will just any DOT 4 product be ok?

I'm having my local mechanic do this for me on Monday so I'd also like to know the preferred product for this application.

I use silicon brake fluid, but DON'T use it unless your prepared to replace ALL the seals and thoroughly clean out the lines or replace them, prior to filling with the silicon fluid.
I made the change when I was rebuilding the Pinny over a decade ago, and it's pretty much maintenance free, but then again, so are DOT 3 filled braking systems, I guess.
Silicon fluid seems to have fallen out of favour a bit in recent years in the car/4WD field but I understand it is still popular with bikes.... Hence I buy the fluid at a local motor bike shop!

Thanks guys. Think I'll head out and get some DOT 3 later in the week.
It's -9F with a -25 wind chill

Heck, it's even cold here today!
It was 75F yesterday and it's 45F today! and expected to dip into the high 30s tomorrow (that's considered really cold in these parts).
Thanks for the reminder on the brake fluid.

I saw on the world news about all the cold weather you guys are having (one day I must get to see snow on Christmas Day)

Dunno if its the same for Pinz (not found out yet!) but of you start running DOT 4 through a Landy that was meant to have DOT 3, you end up with seal leaks. So although a lot of brake fluid is marked up "Universal DOT3/4" its worth getting genuine DOT 3 if that was what the vehicle was meant to use.
As I said - not sure that this applies to Pinz, but it works with Landies.
