Stuck Distributor

Post by pcolette »

Tried to adjust the timing today on the 710 I'm restoring. Loosened the distributor locking ring but can not get the dist to move. Tried soaking the joint with PB Blaster, waited a couple of hours and still no go. Tried some light to medium taps with a hammer in both directions and still won't move.:(
Ideas please?

I use "Dr Procto" to loosen and unstick the distributor. Plain and simply it is a 3ft screwdriver/prybar. Gently pry up a little, apply penetrant, tap back down, repeat till it comes out, then clean the parts, replace the O ring on the distributor, lube with oil and re install.
Usually it takes a couple trys and they come right out.

Thanks Jim. I'll give it a try tomorrow.
