I'm trying to figure out the best way to remove the mirror shaft from the two hole aluminum mounting bracket. I want to replace the upper mounting bolt.

I don't want to damage the folding mechanism and mine seems really stuck into the mounting bracket!:cry:

The shaft is tapered, use a brass drift and a 2lb hammer to useat the pivot after removing the nut.

I was being over cautious, don't want to buy a new fitting.

By the way after seeing your Bengal cat my wife and I got one, standard one.. tan with shaded dark spots. Loves playing in streams! :shock:
