Identifying hardware

Post by K31 »

I sheared a hexagon bolt when removing a part. It's in the Pinz parts catalog as "sechskantschraube M6x12 DIN 933-5.8." It looks pretty common, and I'm assuming that's kind of like our SAE or AN/MS numbers. But how would I identify it at the hardware store? SAV doesn't list them. :?

BTW: Don't worry about the DIN 985-8 that's just the component compliance standard!
(DIN = Deutsches Institut für Normung)
I daresay that if you looked in the spare parts manual for a piece of specialist USA built machinery that they would say the bolts comply with American Standards/ANSI xxxx requirement.
