How lean is to lean?

Post by Erik712m »

I can adjust it down to 67V on the narrow band 02meter. How lean is to lean with the pinz engine? really don't want to burn up a piston.

Don't know how your controller is setup, but I never go leaner than "stoich" (14.7 to 1) air fuel ratio. On a narrow band O2 sensor that's normally somewhere around .47-.5 volts.

You can get better fuel mileage by running leaner, but not good for most air cooled engines, and definitely not for the pinz. The pinz was designed to run richer rather than leaner.

In fact, several parts of our map we go much richer than stoich for cooling & power. Likewise, they like to idle rich as well.

In this area I defer entirely to Herbert's factory experience & connections.

Have fun,

Alan
