710M Pinz in a storage container?

Post by TechMOGogy »

I know I can google specs but wondered if anyone here has stored their Pinz in a metal shipping container.
I have some remote property (prime Pinz land) the 1 garage I have is full but I could buy a used shipping container for under $1,500
Interested if anyone here has done similar?
Thx

I've not done it, but since I work on ships that transport vehicles, I asked Willy at SAV how he shipped the Pinzes from Europe since I never once saw one on any of the Car-carriers I've sailed on and he said he ships them in containers. I am very confident it would fit, but you would have to crawl out the back to get out since a standard container is usually 8'wide by 8.5' tall. You may have enough room to open a door and get out, but likely not. It's standard practice to climb out the back after loading, so that's normal, although as a garage, it would probably be a tad inconvenient.

Shipped several in containers. They fit fine and if you aren't very big, you can park the pinz more to one side and squeeze into the door.

Could add a side door to the container.

some examples of container builds...maybe one could be fitted for your needs.

Just remember that vehicals stored in steel containers have a tendency to grow mold. they are not insulated so moisture condensate drips on the truck and tends to not dry durring the cold months. This causes mold problems.
If you take it out periodicly though you should be fine.

Easily doable. And for all you "little ones" I PERSONALLY climb my 300+ lb arse into the containers and climb in through the side door to unload the containers!

Your key to the mold issue is purchase a container that has been setup for storage....that means vents and "whirly gigs" added to the roof. You shouldn't have any problems.

Personally, if I had the space I would use a 40' as the difference in price usually isn't much and you will always find additional items to store. I have a good sized shop/warehouse and still have an additional 4 x 20' containers and 1 x 45' container in my side yard for additional storage.

Cheers,
