Upgraded Front Seat Bottoms

Post by pcolette »

I'm looking to buy a pair of the original upgraded seat bottoms like these:
seat bottom.jpg
SAV has just the plywood bottoms and I could have new cushions made but I'm hoping to avoid the hassle.

Thanks!

Paul,

I didn't take you for one of those OEM only kind of guys! I can't imagine going back to the stock seats after having installed the Sprinter seats! I have a feeling that they're probably even cheaper than the seat bottoms that you're in the market for.

David,
I made the mistake of selling one of the 710's with the Sprinter seats in it thinking I'd pick up another pair. No such luck! I've only been able to find well worn used ones or new take-outs without the recline feature. :(
I'm still really happy with the Seats Inc. ones in my '73 710 but would like a complete set of original seats with the better bottom cushions. I think you're right about the price though.

There was a time when the Sprinter seats were crazy (or wicked as they say in Maine) cheap. I paid $55/each for mine.

As Elkhart, IN is ground zero for the US RV business, I'd keep checking the eBay listings out of that region. As comfortable as those of us with them are finding them, I guess if you were building up a new $150K Sprinter based RV, you'd want fancier seats...

Perhaps there's merit in reaching out to these folks for some guidance.

Check with Scott. I got mine from him while at NWMF several years ago.

Looks like any easy part to make no?
Plywood bottom, foam and some vinyl?

If I did make them myself or recover the ones for sale on eBay it would be a good opportunity to add these: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=7798 Yes?

Think those could be installed on 1 or 2 of the rear seats - how to wire could be tricky but would the price seems right
