Offering up my "Spare" Supacat. Making room for a new project or 2 :shock:
Depending what I sell or how much real estate I can clear to park them :roll: :lol:
The basics. VW 1.9TDI, Audi 3 spd auto trans axle, Ackerman and/or skid steering.
81" wide, 134" long and 4200lbs.,Top speed of just under 40mph ( faster than a stock Swiss Haffy :shock: ) Other than the length, it is larger and heavier than most small cars in the US.
I have had my other Supacat (unknowingly) doing 35 mph uphill towing a 3k lb trailer.
A set of tracks are included ( $12K new, if bought separately)
Also a softtop framework that I figure I'll never get around to fitting on the other cat.

4) Shows the Ackerman steering, 2nd axle turns 50% of the 1st.
Though not a sharp turn, it does provide for a nice smooth turn either way on the road.

I've never had it in sand, but did pull a Toyota Tundra crewcab out of mud where it had buried itself above the diffs, then drove the cat over the same area in every direction, never skipping a beat... even after stopping in the muck :mrgreen:
This is from Mogfest a few years ago. I made this climb just after a 712 failed to get enough traction to make it.

The ground pressure of the cat is about 1/2 that of a man's footprint (iirc)
I haven't checked lately, but there were some amazing videos and pics of Supacats.

I just watched an episode of Duck Dynasty where Phil and the clan drove off in their Supacat through the swamp. Seated 4 easy.

Dave, what is the ground clearance of the Supacat?

I'd like to see what Supacat they had. Are you sure it wasn't an Argo? All the Supacats look the same, but the MK1 has a completely different drivetrain/layout. I'm not sure how the seating is. Mk2 and newer seat 2 in front and 4+ on the sides in the rear.
There is 8"of clearance under the hull. Don't think of it as you would on a normal 4x4. With a flat bottom, it will slide up and over things. It has aluminum armored plate

Are you sure it wasn't an Argo
I had an 8x8 Conquest Argo when I had my 100 acres. It was definitely not an Argo.

The seating was different than your Supacat pictures though: It had what looked like a driver seat up front and a second forward facing
seat just behind the driver seat. The roll cage looked to still be narrow and midship, and the rear was covered by some kind of low (one foot high) box structure.
It ran quiet- don't know how suppressed the diesel is in those things.
My son watches the show, and found it on Comcast Direct TV- so it was an older episode probably still there somewhere. It was the one where they are eating squirrel stew and go hunting right after they comment on eating squirrel brains. :shock:

I watched a British military review of the Supacat, and the only thing they didn't like was following a tank- the cat would high center
in soft ground between the tank tracks. I know the abilities of that sort of vehicle crawling over rocks, it's not like a 4x4, but in rocky terrain with smaller
(river rock) stones, there could still be a lot of scraping.

Ok, I'll admit, I'm tempted by your Supacat!
Around here, the mountain trails covered in snow 4-6 months/year or more beg for that sort of vehicle, especially with
the cab accessory.
We looked at getting another Argo when I bought the Pinz. 30hp, seats 6, 20mph max and $30,000 without tracks or cab. Not road legal in the US. 10.5" clearance with tracks.
My son's vote for it, but someone in my household has veto power....and after what I've put into (and are about to put into) the 712, she's exercising it! (I would end up in a stew.)
Just a thought: willl you take a wife in trade? :lol:

And how many vehicles wouldn't high center when following a tank? :lol: A big concern in LA traffic :wink:
Handlebars are a big giveaway on Supacats. Everything else uses skidsteer levers.
Besides the Argos, Ontario Gear also make Centaurs, look a bit more like Supacat, or maybe a Kid?

This how I setup my other cat for parades... it also has a SE license (special Equipment) for limited road use.

Not to take away from David's For Sale thread - but here is the vehicle in the DD tv show - I don't know what it is but it is not a Supacat!

I give you permission to add that in the "other 4x4 section". :wink: :mrgreen: Nice reference

It is a little over a foot longer than a cat and 11" narrower. Almost 1/2 the hp and a hydrostatic trans and strictly tracked with skid steer.
I didn't see a seed but imagine around 20mph

I like the twin guacmole makers on the rear. :lol:
