2011 Mogfest, Oct 21 - 23

Post by David Dunn »

For those that schedule everything months in advance, Mogfest is set for October 21st to 23rd. The location has yet to be determined, but should be set by May 1st.
The site will more than likely be primitive camping, though nothing has been ruled out.

Who is in charge of choosing the location? We may be able to use Los Coyotes off road area in Warner Springs.. I'm working on it right now to get some groups in there.

I believe Zack Norwood is working on it, think the Johnson Valley is a location under consideration. However I could be wrong on all points.

Zack and Alan will make the final choice.
They have one place in mind in particular. They will be making a trip there to see how suitable it will be to a large group, and some other considerations. But that won't be until April.

Past Mogfests haven't discriminated against "non" Mogs . I wouldn't expect this year to be any different... the event itself may be a lot different than past...

I've gone to Mogfest in five different vehicles; 3 different 712 Pinzgauers, 1 710M Pinzgauer, and lastly, a Chevrolet Blazer. You'll be welcomed, but make sure that your buddy's vehicles are capable enough to hang.

The only issue that your friends will have is possibly being heckled/ teased a bit if they can't make it through the trails they choose if the Pinzgauers can. All in all, it's good fun, not a measuring contest below the waist if you know what I mean.

You come for the comradarie, the stories, and you'll get to meet a bunch of off kilter folks that will make you wonder what you were thinking when you purchased a Pinzi.

3rd hand repost.... other than this.. I know nothing
I am reposting for Zack from the Mogstink forum:

OK my fellow moggers ( and others, you know who you are ) this is your friendly reminder that So Cal Mogfest is still on. October 21st-23rd Truckhaven hills near the Salton Sea, I will try to attach a pic from Alan Draper for direction as it will be a few miles down the road from last years location. I would like to do a potluck dinner on Saturday night to bring the group together, every one can make there signature dish. Just like last years event we are keeping it low key, no frills. Dry camp, we will have a few RV's with gens to run lights and blenders. Gas and food less than 2 miles down the road. Any comments or questions please post up or contact me at zacknorwood76@gmail.com

Note from the peanut gallery; the spot we are looking at is on SR22 next to two rows of trees. It was planned to be a golf course in the late '50s but didn't make it so there are paved roads right up the the camping area, a little less wind than Truckhaven and close to Pole Line Road which leads to a number of medium trail rides as well as some nasty Nachos for those who want to play hard.

Here is a link to the campsite: http://g.co/maps/v472

We will set up Mog Central with lights, a few tables, traditional Mogaritas (will need to raise some funds for fixin's), coffeepots and a general place to hang out. There is plenty of room for all if we get there early enought to grab the spot. As the plans firm up we will post more info.
