Yes, I for one would like to know more that expedition. My wife and I were struck by the faces of those children and would like to know more about their situation. - Buzz

Albania is a poor country. Till 1991 it was misruled by the communists.
Hard for me to explain in english, but i found this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albania

Till 1991 it the private ownership of cars was forbidden. So most "roads" are just made to use with donkeys.
So the ways you see on the pictures are the main links between the settlements in the mountains.
But they are working on many roads. Meanwhile there are some good highways and motorways around the big citys.

We did about 80-100km per day, and we needed about 10 hours to do this.

So you know that it will take hours and days to bring anything to the settlements in the mountains.
Most of them cultivate their own food.

It is very important for the children to go to school to get out of poorness.

Most children feel good and every year its getting better.
They are in good health, have warm clothes, dry houses, education.
They don´t have flatscreens, computers, playstations and all that stuff and I don´t think they miss it.

Help is still necessary in some regions. Thats the places where we go to.
You can see the progress. First i came there four years ago i saw children running barefoot in mud and snow. Not this year.

On the pictures you have seen the sad looking children. But we have seen the children with big eyes an a big smile in their face when we donated the Christmas boxes :D
Thats one of the reasons we do this every year....

Thanks for sharing the story. If I were there with you I would go too. What a great opportunity to have fun while doing good!
